Hello all
Hi hope all you lovely people are ok. So today ive had quite a hectic morning drooping of the kids with baby in tow. I've only just managed to sit down and make a cuppa. So in the news today I've read an article which is very close to home. The article reads " saving the lives of premature babies is not always kind and can actually prolong suffering doctors warned "
My 3rd was born prematurely when I was 25 weeks pregnant in november 14. She was actually due on 12th February 15. Luckily she has pulled through and now looks like a healthy newborn. However it was very touch and go and her life was saved on numerous occasions. As a mother it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I couldnt imagine being in the position where doctors would have advised me to let her go. I think it should be for the parent to decide whether or not the baby should be saved.

Things like this don't happen to me (they can happen to anybody)
On Saturday 21st March 15, I got the kids up and ready as usual for my eldests violin lesson. Bearing in mind I have a 6yr ,20 months and 4 month old. I did the usual bath, breakfast etc. My 4 month old remained asleep during this time which wasn't unusual. However she was overdue by 40 mins with her feed .I decided to wake her up but she didn't respond. At this point I began to panic, on picking her up she was pale and floppy. I immediately called an ambulance. The ambulance arrived within 5 mins. The paramedic did not seem overly concerned as my baby appeared pink and was breathing regularly. I was not convinced as like all mother's " I know my own child " .On arrival to the hospital my baby was left for around 2h as she appeared stable. It was only when the Dr could not take a blood sample that the situation became critical.
My babies heart rate began to dip and she began to make a funny soubd. The room filled with medics and before I knew it she was being ventilated and pumped full of antibiotics and fluids. The Dr uttered the words all parents fear. We suspect your baby has meningitis and she was transfered to HDU. Four days later it was confirmed she had meningococcal strain B.
I was told by the Dr that she is lucky to be alive and fast acting saved her. I had no idea she do ill but my gut feeling told me that it wasnt minor.
She is now back home safe and sound but I am now one nervous mummy x
